Rotarian Garet Beane, Distric Scout Executive, presented a program outlining the upcoming events for Boy Scouts in the Lakes District. He also gave statistics about growth in the number of scouts in the district.

Rotarian Fuller Royal presented videos of the Edward R. Murrow news show about Pulitzer prize won by the "News Reporter" and "Tabor City Tribune" concerning the expose of KKK in Columbus county in the 1950's. Another video demonstrated how tobacco was produced from planting to selling in the warehouse in the 1960's.

District Governor Mark Lynch outlined how the Rotary Foundation operates and supports numerous charitable causes. Rotarians Sally and Terry Mann are recognized as our club's newest Paul Harris Fellows. Meeting was held at the NC Museum of Foresty which is currently showcasing a fossil exhibit.
